    Chawton House Library is an expensive place to maintain: costing around £2,000 (almost $4,000) per day.

    We receive no government support and rely on people's personal generosity to help us add to the collection, maintain the house and its contents and develop and work the estate. In addition, your help enables us to develop our education programme and ensure that the collection is accessible to all.

    By making a donation you will make a real difference and help ensure our long-term financial security. Please don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box or sign a Gift Aid declaration if you're donating by post. This makes your donation more effective, allowing us to claim back 25 pence from every pound.

    The ornamental wrought iron gates of the Walled Garden

    A major project completed during summer 2024, is the conservation and reinstatement of the ornamental wrought iron gates into the Walled Garden as a result of donations totalling £9,000
